Cuba to host international karate competition

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 8 (ACN) After the success of the 1st Karate-do Styles Cup in Cuba, held at the University of Sports during the weekend, its organizers intend to hold the second one with significant international participation.

The program of the two-day event developed as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the University of Physical Culture and Sport Sciences and based on theoretical and competitive sessions included a theoretical and practical seminar about the practice of karate by the Cuban-Spanish professor Miguel Chavez, Master of Science by the Complutense University of Madrid and head coach of the Spanish national team.

Demonstrations and socialization of knowledge preceded the kata (imaginary combat) and kumite (duels) tournaments performed by male and female athletes from Cuba’s eight official karate associations.
