HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 13 (ACN) The Cuban men's handball team, junior category, achieved today its first success in the qualifying tournament for the World Championship of that sport, to be held in Mexico City until the 17th.
According to Franklin Guevara, national commissioner of that discipline, the Cuban team won with a 32-19 score against Martinique.
In this event, the Cuban team is in Group B along with Martinique, Puerto Rico and the local Mexicans, while in Group A are the United States, Guadeloupe, Dominica and Greenland.
This event will give two tickets to the world championship and a place in the Intercontinental competition and Cuba is aiming to qualify for these important competitions next year.
Finally, he emphasized the need for this training for the young players of the sport, with the goal of better preparing them for future international commitments such as the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023.
