Weightlifter Arley Calderon First to Represent Cuba at Bogota World Meet

Havana, Dec 6 (ACN) Arley Calderon is the first weightlifter to fight for Cuba on Wednesday at Bogota’s World Championship, running till December 16.

Calderon will participate in the contest in his usual 61 kilo category among eleven competitors in group B, scheduled for 11 am Wednesday.

Arley is the best Cuban weightlifter of the year; he was sub-champ at the Manuel Saurez in Memoriam Weightlifting Championship in Havana last March; he also took to silvers at Bogota’s Pan-American Championship in July.

Another two male and one female weightlifters will represent Cuba at the world meet, which is being contested by 537 athletes from 93 countries.
