HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (ACN) World Taekwondo (WT), the international federation governing that sport, awarded Cuban two-time world champion and Olympic bronze medalist Rafael Alba at a gala prior to the World Championships in Mexico.
The super heavyweight Cuban received the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Medalist Special Award during a ceremony to honor officials, masters, coaches, athletes and referees gathered at the first-ever Pan American Taekwondo Union Gala Dinner.
The world championships, organized in Guadalajara, Mexico, will gather more than 750 competitors from 122 countries and a refugee team.
Cuba will participate with eight athletes.
