HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 7 (ACN) The Cuban men's team won the gold medal today in the 10-meter (m) air pistol, corresponding to the Pan American Shooting Championship held in Lima, Peru.
Jorge Grau, Yohe Tamayo and Guillermo Pias perfected their shooting skills to defeat the Americans Nickolaus Mowrer, James Hall and Stephen Lutz 12-10 in the final, while the bronze medals went to the Brazilians.
The three Cuban shooters accumulated 1,718 points to reach the title match, with which they led the quartet of teams that advanced to the decisive stage.
Behind the shooters from the Caribbean island came the Americans (1715), the Colombians (1704) and the athletes from Brazil (1703), according to the official website of the International Federation of that sport.
Among the women, the Cubans also reached the awards podium with their third place in the same specialty.
For the bronze medals, Laina Perez, Sheyla Gonzalez and Claudia Hernandez teamed up to beat Ecuador's Diana Durango, Andrea Perez and Sofia Padilla 13-11; while for the gold medal, the Americans defeated Guatemala's girls 12-6.
