Cubans finish 17th and 18th in Track Cycling World Championships

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) Cubans Jorge Luis González Pérez and Liuber Piña Pavón finished 17th and 18th in the individual pursuit event of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.

In the overall standings, Gonzalez and Piña clocked 48.574 and 48.925 seconds respectively behind the best in the preliminary rounds, the Frenchman Alexandre Leaute, who accumulated 3:31.082 minutes to beat the Japanese Shota Kawamoto and win the tournament.

Prior to this event, González was 16th and Piña 17th in the 1 km time trial race and 10th and 16th in the omnium.
