Cuban men's volleyball team awaits quarterfinal rival at U21 Pan American Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 6 (ACN) The Cuban men's team is waiting today for its opponent in the quarterfinals of the U21 men's volleyball Pan American Cup, to conclude next Saturday at the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum, in Havana.

The Cubans finished second in Group B, with two wins and one setback, behind Canada (3-0) and ahead of Haiti (1-2) and Nicaragua (0-3), a position that did not guarantee them a direct passage to the semifinals, a stage in which the Canadians are in.

There is still the match scheduled for Monday between the United States and Chile, which was postponed for this morning due to the late arrival of US players in Havana.

So far, the United States ( 2-0) lead bracket A, followed by Mexico (2-1), Chile (1-1) and Dominican Republic (0-3), so everything will be defined in this group this morning, before the quarterfinals begin.

On Wednesday, Canada defeated Cuba 3-1 and Haiti overcame Nicaragua 3-1, while Mexico beat Chile 3-1 and the United States swept the Dominican Republic 3-0.

The group leaders advance directly to the semifinals and the second and third place teams advance to the quarterfinals, while on Saturday the medalists of the tournament, which awards two tickets to the world championship of the category in 2023, will be defined.
