HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 22 (ACN) The Cuban duo of Pedro Vega and Darien Martinez will be today in races three and four of the Snipe Open World Championship, in 14th place overall, based in Cascais, Portugal.
Vega and Martinez have 41 points, after finishing on Sunday in 13th and 12th place, in that order, a good performance among the 88 boats from the 17 countries present at the world championship.
Further behind are Nelido Manso and Sanlay Castro, in 59th place with 113 points, after reaching 27th and 21st place, respectively, but in the second race they were penalized after finishing by the Race Committee for poor execution at the finish line.
Actions will continue Tuesday, concluding on Thursday 25, and the Cubans, who are attending as guests as well as other crews, must maintain or improve their results.
It should be mentioned that for the past three years the Cuban yachtsmen have not competed in dinghy sailing.
