Poor performance by Cuban cyclists in Tour of Panama

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 21 (ACN) The Cuban men's team competing in the Tour de Panama had poor results on the first day of this emblematic race that gathers 24 clubs and national teams from Saudi Arabia, Spain, Panama, United States, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Cuba and Colombia.

The best Cubans in the classification stage were Kevin Vega and Alejandro Parra, who finished 86th and 87th, respectively—more than 8 minutes behind the leader, the Guatemalan Luis López—whereas Yadiel de León was 93rd, Douglas Parrado 94th, Maikol Hernández 131st and Gian Carlos Hernández 152nd.

As to team standings, Cuba ranked 17th with an accumulated time of 07:16:44 hours, 36:06 minutes behind the leader Óptica Deluxe (Guatemala).
