LA GUAIRA, VENEZUELA, Aug 12 (ACN) The Cuban women's baseball team will face today its fellow Puerto Rican team, at the start of the pre-World Cup tournament to be held at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium in this Venezuelan city and in which six teams are taking part.
The tournament will give four places for the 2023 World Cup, so it is necessary to start with a win, as a loss would complicate the process from very early on. And both mentors know that, and will start with their most qualified lineups.
For Friday's game, Cuban Pimienta announced right-hander Mayumis Solano, while Carlos Ferrer, manager of the Puerto Ricans, decided to go with Janiliz Rivera, who beat the Cubans at the Caribbean Cup, mainly based on her good control.
