HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 19 (ACN) Cuban sprinter Shainer Reginfo finished fifth in heat 2 of the 200 meters flat (m/p), corresponding to the 18th World Athletics Championships in Eugene, United States.
Reginfo could not advance to the semifinals with a time of 20.80 seconds (s), which was only enough to tie with Simon Hansen, from Denmark.
In that event, the first three of each of the seven heats will advance to the next round, plus the owners of the three fastest times among those who did not qualify directly.
The Cuban athlete has as personal best and of the current season in the 200 m/p a time of 20.51 s, achieved last June in Spain.
Two days ago, the Cuban sprinter also failed to reach the semifinals of the 100m/p, finishing sixth in the fourth qualifying heat with a time of 10.21s.
However, for Reginfo, who is just 20 years old and winner of the bronze medal at the World Youth Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2021, the mere fact of participating in the Eugene event has been a good experience that will help him a lot for future competitions.
