Cuban women's beach volleyball duo out of the top 32 at world championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 14 (ACN) The Cuban women's duo of Leila Martinez-Ledianny Echeverria was left out of the round of 32 best pairs this Wednesday at the World Beach Volleyball Championship, held in Rome, Italy, up to June 19.

According to the International Federation's website, Martinez and Echeverria needed a victory Tuesday that would keep them alive in the competition, but lost 1-2 to the Swiss duo of Bobner and Verge-Depre F.

The match was hard-fought, especially the third and last set, as they lost the first set, 16-21, won the second, 21-13, but lost the final set, 12-15.

Thus, the Cubans leave the tournament with a third place in group H, with a negative balance of one win and two setbacks, and now they lost again to the Swiss team.
