HAVANA, Cuba, May 18 (ACN) The five Cuban canoeists who will compete from May 20 to 22 in the World Cup in Recice, Czech Republic, are completing their preparation at the venue of the event after a brief training base in Poland.
Alejandro Hanze, president of the National Canoeing Federation (canoe and kayak), told ACN that their stay in Poland met the objectives and now all the athletes are ready to debut in the World Cup this Friday, led by Serguei Torres, who was Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020 in the two-seater canoe (C-2) at 1,000 meters and now will participate in the single-seater canoe (C-1) at 1,000 and 5,000 meters.
The Cuban canoeists will also be in the 2022 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup, to be held in Poznan, Poland, on May 26 to 29, as well as in the World Championships in Halifax, Canada (August 3-7) and, also in that city, in the continental qualifiers for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023.
