HAVANA, Cuba, May 8 (ACN) Cuban freestyle wrestlers Lazaro Daniel Hernandez (86 kg) and Arturo Silot (97 kg) finished second in the final day of the Pan American Wrestling Championships in Acapulco, Mexico, after losing in the final, respectively, to Zahid Valencia and Kyle Snyder, both from the USA.
Meanwhile, Alexei Álvarez (57 kg) and Franklin Marén (74 kg) won the bronze medals. Alvarez beat Enrique Armando Herrera (Peru), whereas Maren prevailed over the local Diego Antonio Sandoval, according to the official website of the World Wrestling Union.
Their victories gave Maren and Silot the right to compete in the 2023 Pan American Games, to be held in Santiago de Chile.
Two other Cubans who saw action in the closing session were Cristian Damian Solenzal (65 kg) and Ibrain Torres (125 kg), who lost their fights and thus the chance to be on the podium.
