HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 28 (ACN) The Cuban national soccer team defeated its Belizean counterpart 3-0 in the second and last FIFA Date of the month of March at the FFB Field in the city of Belmopan.
The Cuba DT, Pablo Elier Sánches made some changes from the first team that lost 0-1 to Guatemala last Thursday in Chapín, and was able to reap the rewards of a more precise delivery in all sectors of the field.
The most outstanding note was provided by the capital striker Marcel Hernández, who after 10 years without wearing the jersey of the Cuban team, scored a pair of goals, in the 46th and 90+2nd minutes.
The other Cuban shot was scored after a corner kick by midfielder Karel Espino (min. 57), who now showed his true worth and scored his first goal with the Island's senior team.
The numbers showed a greater dominance of the ball by the locals in the first half, which ended goalless.
But in the second half, the Cuban midfielders were more mobile, the shots were more precise, and Marcel had more balls to shoot at goal, something that did not happen in the game lost to the Guatemalans three days ago.
