HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 18 (ACN) After two years without taking place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cuba Cup of athletics begins today with the discussion of 15 finals, in a competition that will be held until Sunday 20 at the Pan American Stadium, in Havana.
This event will have the absence of the six Cuban athletes who will compete this weekend at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
The Cuban tournament will begin with the final of the men's 10,000 meters flat (m/p), followed by the women's 5,000 meters flat (m/p).
In the morning, which will conclude with the shot put (m) in the decathlon event, the women's pole vault and the men's hammer throw (7.26 kilograms) will also have finals.
Then, the main event will be the 100 m/p, in both sexes, and the rivalry of sprinters Shainer Reginfo and Jenns Fernandez, the first of them bronze medalist in the hectometer at the World Junior Athletics Championships held in Nairobi, Kenya, last year, can be enjoyed during the men's competition.
