Cuba vs. Canada today in Intercontinental Water Polo Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 10 (ACN) The Cuban women's team will face Canada today after two defeats against the favorite teams of the U.S. and Australia in the Intercontinental Water Polo Cup in Lima, Peru.

Team Cuba is at the bottom of the standings along with the Colombians, who have lost their three games.

Canada, runner-up at the Pan American Games in Lima 2019 and seventh in Tokyo 2021, is the third favorite for the podium of this event, after the United States and Australia.

Despite arriving late to the event, making its debut against the U.S. when it was a few players short, and losing its first two games, Team Cuba could fight for the fourth place in the competition, just behind the world powers.

Starting tomorrow, the Cubans will compete against Colombia, Brazil and Argentina, in that order. Brazil, the strongest of them, defeated Cuba in 2019 by 8-7 in the discussion of the bronze medal in the Pan American Games in Lima, but then the Cubans took revenge and got the third ticket of the Americas for the World Championship, after the Americans and Canadians.
