Cubans advance to the mixed doubles final in Caribbean table tennis championships

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 7 (ACN) The Olympic mixed duet of Daniela Fonseca and Jorge Moises Campos qualified today to the finals of the Caribbean Table Tennis Championships after defeating 3-1 their Cuban teammates Idalys Lovet and Liván Martínez.

Now Fonseca-Campos will play against Esmerilyn Castro and Isaac Vila, from the Dominican Republic, who defeated the Cubans Lizdainet Rodriguez and Rene Mendez.

Campos told ACN about the high competitive level of the event and stressed the quality of the Cuban athletes, who rank among the best players in the region.

“Both the most experienced and the new players have improved their technical, tactical and physical quality,” according to Campos, who will resume his contract in Europe right after the Caribbean tournament.

On Saturday, Cuba finished first in the women's and men's team competition.
