Fifth place and bronze medal for Cubans in rowing in Cali 2021

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 3 (ACN) Cubans Merelis Gonzalez and Rayma Ortiz finished today in fifth place in the final A of the coxless double (2-) of the rowing tournament at the First Junior Pan American Games of Cali 2021, held at Lake Calima El Darien-Valley.

The champions were the Uruguayans Yuliana Etchebarne and Zoe Fanae Acosta (08:01.721 seconds), the runners-up were the Mexicans Devanih Cecilia Plata (08:06.702) and Lilian Armenta and the bronze runners were the Chileans Antonia Liewald and Isidora Niemeyer (08:07.993).

In fourth place finished the Peruvians Alessia Ariane Palacios and Valeria Ariane Palacios (08:11.084), while in the sixth and last place finished the Venezuelans Lilibeth Andreina Goitia and Ysmaly Josefina Granadino (10:00.156).

On Thursday, the other Cuban in competition, singles player (1x) Carlos Andrei Ajete, won the bronze medal -without time-, behind Paraguay's Javier Andres Insfran (gold) and Brazil's Tomas Garcia (silver).

Ajete advanced to the final A on Tuesday, by dominating his elimination heat, ahead of Peralta and Insfran, respectively, in an event that also did not reflect the times.
