HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 2 (ACN) Thursday found Cuba anchored in the fifth place of the medal table of the First Junior Pan American Games Cali 2021 after boxing, wrestling, athletics and table tennis won 10 gold, two silver and two bronze medals Wednesday.
The Cuban delegation now boasts 17-10-8, thanks mainly to the boxers (4-1-0), the Greco-Roman wrestlers (4-1-0), the track and field athletes (2-0-1) and the tennis players (0-0-1).
Right now, the Island is only surpassed by the event leaders Brazil (39-27-35), Colombia (37-26-40), the United States (34-20-24) and Mexico (30-54-25).
Several Cuban athletes who are likely to win a medal will see action today, especially in athletics, women's wrestling and rowing.
In the case of baseball, Cuba—which lost 0-8 yesterday against Colombia—will fight for the bronze medal against Venezuela, a team they already beat 3-0 in the qualifiers.
