HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 26 (ACN) Cubans will compete today in 11 sports, with medal options in diving, swimming and triathlon, as well as taekwondo, cycling, canoeing, judo and shooting, at the First Junior Pan American Games, in Colombia, where Cuba leads the medal table.
The divers will be looking for a podium in the one-meter springboard, where they will also compete for medals in the three-meter springboard at the Hernando Botero Swimming Pool Complex,
The Cuban swimmers will try for metals in 400 meters (m), 100 m breaststroke, 200 m butterfly and 4x100 m freestyle (women's and men's teams).
Daniela Ciara Vega, Isabel Rodriguez, Kevin Milian and Alejandro Rodriguez will fight for medals in the triathlon (swimming, cycling and running).
Among other participations of the Caribbean delegation today, Jessy Valdespino will fight to win in the 49 kg taekowondo division and Kevin Vega will do it in the most complete event of track cycling, the omnium, with the challenges of the scracht, tempo, elimination and points race.
Meanwhile, in boxing, the only Cuban competing today will be Ewart Marin (52 kg), who will face El Salvador's Steven Francisco Rodriguez in the second of the 10 bouts to be disputed.
Cuba is participating with 214 athletes, in the first edition of the Junior Pan American Games, which will end on December 5.
