Cuban cyclist Sierra won first women’s edition of Tre Valli Varesin

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 5 (ACN) Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra won today the first women's edition of the Tre Valli Varesine race, in Italy, near the end of another outstanding season in the world elite, with eight medals despite a limited calendar due to the COVID-19.

Sierra timed 2:27:14 hours in 92.4 kilometers, official time shared by Spanish Garcia and Australian Neylan, according to the specialized website Procyclingstats.

The Cuban also added 40 points to her ranking in the International Cycling Union, which is updated once a week.

The Alfredo Binda Society, traditional organizer of cycling classics, created the women's version of Tre Valli so that the best in the world could compete in the route from Busto Arsizio to Varese and generate the same interest and media feedback as the centenary men's race.

In recent weeks, the 28-year-old Cuban ciclyst was champion of the Giro della Toscana (Italy), third on points at the Tour of Ardeche (France), runner-up at the Giro dell' Emilia (Italy) and fifth at the World Championship (Belgium).
