Russia defeats Cuba in U19 men's volleyball world championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 30 (ACN) Cuban volleyball team lost today 0-3 to Russia, in the round of 16 of the U19 men's volleyball World Championship, which will conclude next September 2 in Tehran, Iran.

The Cubans lost 19-25, 19-25 and 17-25, in a match in which they made 32 errors.

Russians were also better in attack, 35-17, blocking, 6-5, and service, 5-0, an expected result due to their undefeated condition and leader of group C in the preliminary stage, while the Cubans finished in fourth place in section D, with one win and three setbacks.

Cuban team will now face India on Tuesday, in search of a ninth to 16th place, while Russia will face Brazil in the quarterfinals.
