HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 26 (ACN) Cuba will be opposite Argentina today in Pool D of the tournament hosted by Tehran, capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, until September 2.
On the first day, after losing 0-3 (25-19, 25-19 and 25-18) to Germany, coach Mario Izquierdo’s disciples will strive for a win against the Argentineans this Thursday. They defeated the Dominican Republic, which had to withdraw from the World Championship after some of its players tested positive to COVID-19.
Cuba had no action on Wednesday, whereas Argentina beat Germany 3-1 and Egypt won 3-0 due to the Dominicans’ no-show. Cuba was scheduled to face the Dominican Republic and, on Saturday, at the end of the preliminary stage, Egypt.
Argentina is leading Pool D with nine points (3 wins-0 losses), followed by Germany (6/2-1), Cuba (3/1-1), Egypt (3/1-1) and Dominican Republic (0/0-4).
Italy, Russia and Argentina, in that order, were the winners of the previous championship, held in Tunisia.
