HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) Former basketball player Ruperto Herrera, secretary general of the Cuban Olympic Committee, will chair the Athletes´ Commission of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (CACSO), of which he was already the second member of the executive.
The decision was made at the CACSO Extraordinary General Assembly, held online in midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, reported JIT sports publication.
The text adds that despite the tense global and regional health situation, and the withdrawal of Panama as venue for the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Games, the sports organization is taking important steps in improving its work.
At this moment one of the priorities has to do with the designation of a new venue for the multisport competition, something that Luis Mejia, CACSO president, insists they will achieve.
