Cuban setupper Moinelo continues shining in NPB

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 24 (ACN) Cuban reliever Livan Moinelo continued with his good performance as setup man today in the 4-1 home win of his team, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, over the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters, in the 2020 season of Japanese professional baseball league (NPB).

In a match for the Pacific League, Moinelo managed to pitch a scoreless frame with three strikeouts and a walk, thus achieving his 12th hold of the season.
The left-hander, who has only surrendered runs once this year, reduced his ERA to 1.20 and increased his strikeouts total to 27 in 15 bullpen outings.
The Hawks, monarchs in the last three NPB seasons, will add their starting lineup next August 1st Cubans Alfredo Despaigne and Yurisbel Gracial, who are serving the quarantine stipulated in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Chunichi Dragons continue with their lousy performance in the Central League and today lost 2-5 to the Hanshin Tigers, to sink even further behind in the standings.
For the Dragons, Cuban 1B Dayan Viciedo went 0 for 4 with a strikeout to lower his batting average (BA) to .316, while his compatriot, catcher Ariel Martinez, struck out once and got a walk in two at-bats (ABs) to decrease his BA to .333.
In another game of the day, Cuban RF Leonys Martin hit a double in three ABs and scored a run in the 2-3 loss of the Chiba Lotte Marines to the Seibu Lions and now his BA is of .277.
