Despaigne, who won the NPB crown for the third straight season with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, deserved the status as best designated hitter (DH), fruit mostly of his 36 homers, 116 hits, 88 RBIs and 61 runs scored.
The clean-up hitter had offensive average (BA) of .259, slugging (SLU) of .520 and OBP of .355, figures also valid to surpass American Jabari Blash in the vote.
This is Despaigne´s second appearance in an ideal team.
He accumulates six seasons in NPB, three with the Chiba Lotte Marines and same amount with SoftBank. This year he surpassed the 150 homers and 400 RBIs in NPB and left his offensive line (AVE / OBP / SLU) in 264/352/504.
Cubans Livan Moinelo (LHP) and Yurisbel Gracial (OF) also won the title this year with the Hawks and the latter was even named MVP of the final (Japan Series).
