Cuba has graduated over 37,000 Health technology specialistsHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 28 (acn) Cuba has graduated about 37,000 young people in the three training models through which Health Technology has transited, said today in this city Antonio Humberto Rodríguez, Dean of the Faculty of Health Technology.

Currently, these courses are Bachelor in Rehabilitation; Medical Physics Radiology; Optometry and Optics; Nutrition; Clinical Bioanalysis, Health Information System; Hygiene and Epidemiology and Logofonoaudiology, said the dean who was one of the beneficiaries through the program promoted by the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.

He highlighted that the course was created in 2002, and the program gave the possibility to young people to enter the technical areas of health with courses in technology and several profiles.

The also president of the organizing committee of the 3rd International Convention on Health Technology, opened today at the Havana Convention Center with delegates from a dozen countries, recalled that since the 1970s there had been the training of technicians but not the university degrees in Health Technology.

At the opening of the event, which will run until Friday, nine professors who have devoted much of their lives and work to training in Medical Sciences in Cuba were recognized.

Dr. Jorge Gonzalez Perez, National Director of Medical Teaching at the Ministry of Public Health, at the opening of the meeting, emphasized that Cuba currently has more than 35,000 professors of medical sciences and more than 100,000 undergraduate students throughout the country, including those of the eight courses of Health Technology.

An associated exhibition was also inaugurated, aimed at promoting and showing products and technologies linked to Public Health services in which international organizations, companies, universities, research centers and other entities participate.
