HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 21 (acn) The office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Cuba and the World Fund for Nature Conservation (WWF-Holland) signed on Tuesday in this capital a memorandum of understanding to support Cuba in that sphere.
Signing the document were Myrta Kaulard, UNDP resident representative in Havana, and Kirsten Schujit, executive director of WWF-Holland.
With regard to this new alliance, Kaulard highlighted that it is in line with the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations and emphasizes support for adaptation to climate change and to sectors of production and services.
The two organizations commit themselves to strengthen their actions in Cuba to promote and support the sustainable development of natural resources and the conservation of the national natural heritage in the context of the implementation of the National Plan for economic and Social Development until 2030.
The document includes spheres such as the management of ecosystems, protected areas, water resources, food safety, sustainable agriculture, climate change, tourism, energy and transport.
The Dutch party signed the memorandum previously in that European country.
