Eleventh Imported Zika Case Reported in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, May 10 (acn) The eleventh imported case of a patient with Zika virus has been confirmed. It's a 43-year-old Cuban citizen, who lives in the municipality of Minas de Matahambre in western Pinar del Rio province and arrived in the country on April 30 from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, where she was working in the cultural sector.

On May 1, she had temperature of 37 ° C and rash. She went to the emergency room of her polyclinic, from where due to her symptoms and epidemiological history she was sent to the Hospital Leon Cuervo Rubio, where she was admitted. Blood samples were taken and sent to the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kouri (IPK) for study.
On May 9, the IPK lab informed that the patient was positive for Zika virus.
She is currently asymptomatic, in good general condition and with favorable evolution and she is still hospitalized.
