Cuba´s Labiofam opens branch in Bolivia

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 24 (acn) Cuba's LABIOFAM Business Group opened its first branch in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba in a ceremony attended by businessmen, diplomats and departmental authorities.

During the opening of the office, located at the Prado Trade Center, Federico Diez de Medina, president of the Association of Private Entrepreneurs of Cochabamba, welcomed the cooperation between Cuba and Bolivia, especially in areas in which the Caribbean island has abundant experience such as in health.

These projects are highly positive for the benefit of the Bolivian people, said Diez de Medina, who added that many of the tasks of LABIOFAM will especially benefit low-income people, reported Prensa Latina news agency.

Meanwhile, the engineer Pavel Pizart, representative of that company, highlighted the ties between the governments and peoples of Cuba and Bolivia and stressed that this group represents the Cuban State.

Casimira Rodríguez, Secretary of integral human development of the branch in Cochabamba, said Cuba is seen as a united country, which has greatly contributed to health and education worldwide and that deserves respect, and so I thank Cuban people.

Meanwhile, the Cuban ambassador to Bolivia, Benigno Perez, thanked the presence of businessmen from the city of Cochabamba and the department of the same name and wished success to Labiofam workers and their directors.

Labiofam , which has 17 member companies, began its work in the 1960s, especially in the industry of vaccines and medicines.

Over the years it incorporated new areas and modern technologies with the aim of finding solutions to the Cuban economy, according to Pizart, who told Prensa Latina that the company has received recognition both from inside and outside of Cuba.

That institution has business relationships with companies from over 60 countries and stands out in the control of diseases transmitted by vectors, in addition to the fight against cancer.

Also in the construction of biotechnological plants to obtain healthier agricultural production and with good yield, as well as provide technical assistance to projects with impact on health, food production and agriculture.
