HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 8 (acn) The Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), Mourad Wahba, of Egypt, who is also the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), described as excellent the work carried out by the Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti.
This work, pointed out Wahba, is widely recognized at the highest level of the United Nations, which on several occasions has expressed the meritorious work of the health staff in Haiti in the combat against the cholera epidemic and more recently in Africa in the fight against Ebola, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.
According to a note by the Cubaminrex Web site, the official expressed his interest in maintaining close cooperation relations with Cuban organizations and institutions, with a view to mitigating the effects that future natural disasters and epidemics in Haiti could cause.
The leadership of the Cuban Medical Brigade, specifies the text, is a permanent guest at the meetings of Sectorial Committees periodically held at the Ministry of Public Health, where the epidemiological situation of the country is analyzed.
