HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 24 (acn) Singapore's Foreign Minister (FM) Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, highlighted in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba on Tuesday the island's development in Medicine, science and technology, prospects of cooperation he explores during his official visit to Cuba.
At the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power in Santiago de Cuba, where Shanmugam and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by its president, Reinaldo Garcia, the Foreign Minister of Singapore told the press about the good state of relations between the two peoples and spoke about the presence of specialists of his country in the Special Development Zone of Mariel.
Likewise, he acknowledged the prestige of Cuban physicians in the world, a sector in which his government has expressed interest, he stressed.
The FM said that Singapore has welcomed Cuba in international organizations, while ratifying its support for the lifting of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on the island for over 50 years now.
Singapore and Cuba maintain diplomatic relations since April 18, 1997.
