BAYAMO, Cuba, Jan 7 (ACN) The investment of 40 million pesos in the acquisition of medical and non-medical equipment during the recently ended 2024, contributed to improve the quality of Public Health services in the Cuban eastern province of Granma.

Yudelkis Ortiz Barcelo, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, said this in a public speech during the commemorative act for the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

Among other improvements, she highlighted the purchase of a modern multislice tomograph and its commissioning at the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Clinical-Surgical Hospital in the provincial capital.

She also highlighted the installation of 16 digital X-ray machines, located in four hospitals of territorial interest and polyclinics in 11 municipalities, as well as state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment for cardiology, imaging and genetics services.

The allocation of an ambulance for medical emergencies to the Felix Lugones hospital fulfilled a long-standing dream of the inhabitants of the coastal town of Pilon, she stressed.

On the other hand, during the previous year, work was also carried out on 60 construction projects in the sector, including, as a priority, the rehabilitation of services and wards of the provincial hospitals.

In the midst of the complex situation the country is facing, with a strong impact on highly sensitive areas such as Public Health, the will shown in each investment to improve equipment and premises favors the performance of the personnel and should result in better quality care for the people.
