HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 30 (ACN) Cuban professionals are participating in a course on Metrology for Secondary Dosimetric Calibration Laboratories in the Latin American Region, which concludes today in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
One of them is PhD in science Gonzalo Walwyn Salas, general director of the Center for Radiation Protection and Hygiene (CPHR), who is attending as a professor, the Cuban Network of Nuclear Communicators (Rednuc by its Spanish acronym) announced to the Cuban News Agency.
The Radiation Protection and Hygiene Center was created in 1985 to support the safe application of nuclear technologies in the country and is considered a national and regional reference institution in radiation safety.
Individual radiological surveillance of occupationally exposed workers is part of its social mission and its basis is external and internal dosimetry.
Rednuc constitutes an initiative since February 2016 of the Agency of Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies, of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, and is made up of journalists, communicators and specialists from its centers.
