Cuban experts implement project on endocrine diseases

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 9 (ACN) Specialists from the Isotope Center (Centis by its Spanish acronym) have been assigned the task of providing hormone determinations by radioimmunoassay (RIA) methods to 15 hospital institutions of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap by its Spanish acronym).

Both this and the Quality Management and Development (Cgdc by its Spanish acronym) are presenting a project in the nuclear sector program, PhD Maria de Lourdes Morera, from the Agency of Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies (Aenta by its Spanish acronym), informed the Cuban News Agency.

She added that its title is Improvement of the competence and quality of the service of its laboratory and medical assistance for the diagnosis, prevention, control and management of the evolution of endocrine diseases.

Morera indicated that in the execution of the project, its specialists are prepared to comply with all the requirements for the analysis of biological samples of human origin and ensure quality and competence.

Centis has a quality management system, its personnel is technically qualified and is capable of producing valid results, said the expert when explaining the reasons why this group accepted the assignment.

They also relied on a work team made up of evaluators from Onarc, advisors from the Centers for the State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed by its Spanish acronym), Radiation Protection and Hygiene (Cphr by its Spanish acronym) and the Cgdc.

The National Institute of Endocrinology, attached to Minsap, is in charge of the management and education on diabetes mellitus and other metabolic diseases, diagnosis and treatment.
