Cuba designs new child rehabilitation device

HOLGUÍN, Cuba, Jun 7 (ACN) The design of a new three-step ramp to treat children with various disabilities stands as a major contribution of the science and technological innovation in the Octavio de la Concepcion y de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital of the province of Holguin.

Specialists explained that the new device is designed to improve posture and balance in children with cerebral palsy, knee and foot deformities, among other pathologies, and remarked that a similar piece of equipment costs between 900 and 1,000 dollars in the international market.

Care services for disabled children also foresee their social inclusion through ambulatory teachers and hospital classrooms for the benefit of special education schools and psycho-pedagogical medical centers.
