 Meeting on Environmental Popular Education Kicks off in Cuba   PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Dec 11 (acn) With the exchange of experiences between Cuban and foreign activists, the 6th Latin American Meeting of Developing Experiences in Environmental Popular Education, which will run until December 12th, began today in Pinar del Río.

On the first day of the appointment, Marlenis Rosales, from Guatemala, explained the characteristics of an initiative implemented since 2002 in indigenous communities to educate people on ideal-for-hunting-animals stages, without hindering their reproductive cycle and protecting endemic or endangered species.
She said a group of professionals from various fields are working in the training of young Mayan leaders who teach courses in schools, while territorial planning plays an important role in the respectful and responsible use of resources.
She added that this type of event generates spaces for dialogue and the acquisition of knowledge and innovative ideas, in order to enrich the work of the participants.
According to Rosa Pablos de la Rosa, communications coordinator of the meeting, the attendees will discuss, among other topics, the value of the assimilation of environmental management tasks by citizens and their advantages for local development, from the experiences in dissimilar areas.
The workshop is attended by more than 50 delegates from Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Colombia, as well as from Sancti Spiritus, Camagüey, Granma, Guantanamo and the organizer province and other regions.
