Health Ministry Stresses Contribution of Youths to Cuba and the World

Havana, Cuba, May 10 (ACN) Cuban Health minister Jose Angel Portal Miranda thanked the young workers in the sector for their contribution to international missions and stressed their role in favoring the sustainability of the local health system.

The Minister and members of the National Committee of the Young Communist League exchanged on a videoconference with medical professionals who have offered their services in other countries of the world, at times under very difficult conditions.

Thousands of young Cuban professionals have worked in international missions with altruism while many others are willing to do it too, said the government official.

Since May 1963, when the first 50 Cuban doctors went to assist the people of Algeria, Cuban medical cooperation has been permanent over the years by helping 164 countries of the world.
