HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 4 (ACN) For its contribution to knowledge, the Center for Radiation Protection and Hygiene (CPHR by its Spanish acronym) proposed to the Cuban Academy of Sciences Award its most outstanding scientific-technical result in 2022.
Implementation of Cuban dosimetric patterns applied to photonic radiation fields is the title of his research, in which professionals from the Higher Institute of Technologies and Applied Sciences of the University of Havana also took part.
The Network of Nuclear Communicators also informed that the study was a scientific novelty, since Cuban dosimetric patterns are characterized for the first time and, through international comparisons, the degree of equivalence regarding the world reference values in photonic radiation beams is obtained.
It added that the innovative modifications of the conventional methods of implementation of Kerma patterns in air and Absorbed Dose in water are specific to the national situation, but applicable to all laboratories with similar equipment in other countries.
In modern physics, the photon is the carrier particle of all forms of electromagnetic radiation, including gamma rays, X-rays, ultraviolet, visible, infrared, microwaves and radio waves.
CPHR is one of the collectives of the Nuclear Power and Advanced Technologies Agency.
