Havana, Nov 18 (ACN) Cuba’s Health Ministry called on the people to keep up COVID-19 precaution measures as year’s end massive festivities approach.
The advice, posted on the Ministry’s website, reads that in case of respiratory symptoms the person affected must immediately go to a healthcare center, while those living in his/her home must adopt personal protection measures like keeping distant, washing hands, and wearing facemasks.
The disease has kept a lowering trend on the island with 2.25 average cases daily, according to the Ministry, which added that no deaths have occurred in Cuba since August 19 this year.
Meanwhile, health centers keep administering PCR and rapid tests in an effort to detect any sick person and also identify SARS-COV-2 variants that have circulated in Cuba, like Omicron and its sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5.
According to the World Health Organization, 632 million COVID-19 cases were detected around the world up to November 13, and nearly 6.5 million deaths were registered.
Cuba reported 1 million 111 thousand 335 cases positive to SARS-COV-2 from March 2020, when the virus appeared on the island, and 1 million 102 thousand 732 recovered patients, while 8 thousand 530 persons died from the disease.
