Over 28,000 children in eastern Cuban province receive booster vaccination anti COVID 19

 HOLGUIN, Cuba, Aug 29 (ACN) Booster vaccination with Soberana Plus has already benefited more than 28,000 children in the province of Holguin, as part of the programs of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym) to boost the immune system of populations vulnerable to COVID-19.

This process, which began on August 8, includes 2 to 11 year-old children.

Elizabeth Chacon, head of the provincial nursing department, said during a meeting with the press, that the immunization is divided into two stages, the first up to six years of age and then up to eleven.

For his part, Ruben Sierra, an official of the Provincial Public Health Department, told the Cuban News Agency that exclusion criteria are maintained, such as chronic decompensated conditions, oncological treatments or high doses of steroids, and in the case of these patients, they are gradually incorporated to the planned schedules.

Around 40 million doses of Abdala, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus vaccines, developed by Cuban scientists, have been administered in the country, while the island was the first country in the world to initiate immunization at pediatric ages.
