HAVANA, Cuba, May 9 (ACN) Nine patients injured as a result of the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana are being treated at the General Calixto Garcia University Hospital, and one of those admitted to the burn ward is expected to be discharged from the hospital today.
Miguel Emilio Garcia Rodriguez, director of the hospital, told the press that six people are in ICU and two of them are reported to be critical, one 63 years old and the other 29 years old.
The doctor highlighted the importance of blood donations from the population, which in a timely manner contributed to save the lives of those who arrived in that institution.
Specialists from other hospitals support the assistance to the injured, and he said that relatives are updated every four hours on the condition of the patients.
The "Calixto García" is one of the eight hospitals in Havana that received the victims of the accident that occurred on Friday at the Saratoga Hotel, a hotel institution that for 17 years provided excellent services and was preparing to reopen on May 10 after repairs carried out during the pandemic.
