Western Cuban province has administered over 300,000 Abdala booster doses

MATANZAS, Cuba, Jan 11 (ACN) In accordance with the development of the application of the Cuban anti-COVID-19 Abdala vaccine booster in the province of Matanzas, more than 300, 000 doses have been administered so far in the territory, Lissy Vega Rodriguez, in charge of the immunization, exclusively told Cuban News Agency.

A total of 308,036 people in Matanzas have already received their booster dose, a figure that represents 76.8 % of the persons to be inoculated who have a complete vaccination schedule up to September.

At present, the Abdala booster is being applied in all municipalities in relation to risk groups such as pregnant women, postpartum women, breastfeeding women over 18 years of age, the elderly, transplant patients and the physically discapacitated.

Vega Rodriguez pointed out that approximately 98 % of the workers in the Public Health sector and 100 % of those in the Tourism industry have been administered the immunogen dose, while a significant number of people who meet the requirement of having three months of the vaccination scheme completed will soon be incorporated to the vaccination.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, as of January 9, 86.9% of the Cuban population (9,725,935 people) had completed the anti-COVID-19 vaccination scheme, and 2,914,069 have booster doses, numbers that have a satisfactory impact on the battle against the pandemic, which is currently showing an increase in the number of cases in Cuba.
