HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 20 (ACN) The Cuban health ministry reported in the weekly report on the behavior of COVID 19 in the country that it continues to record a reduction in the number of deaths, with only one death due to COVID-19 reported during the week.
As for the confirmed patients in the last seven days, the health authority reported 469: 401 autochthonous and 68 imported.
In the pediatric age group, 54 cases were reported, for an average of eight per day.
The source also reported that a total of 342 patients remain hospitalized with a positive diagnosis for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, of which 327 are stable.
This Sunday, 94 medical discharges were granted, totaling 955,462 patients recovered from COVID-19 in Cuba (99.1% of the diagnoses since the outbreak of the epidemic, in March 2020).
Holguin, Camagüey, Sancti Spiritus, Las Tunas, Ciego de Avila and Matanzas provinces, and the special municipality of Isle of Youth, have the highest incidence rates of positive cases in the country.
Regarding the omicron variant of the virus, considered of concern by the World Health Organization, Cuban ministry of public health reported that the six cases confirmed in Cuba have come from South Africa (three), Kenya (two) and Mozambique (one).
Pinar del Rio, Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Granma are the regions where the diagnoses have been made, and there has been no transmission to contacts.
