ARTEMISA, Cuba, Nov 10 (ACN) The drop in the number of COVID-19 cases and the detection of 103 suspected cases of dengue fever in the last week mark the epidemiological situation in the province of Artemisa, the reason that the provincial Temporary Working Group (GTT) called for strict surveillance.
According to Dr. Yanelis Amador, provincial director of public health, despite the reduction of the infection rate we need to keep applying the rapid tests to all suspected cases of COVID-19.
The decrease of the incidence rate in the province has allowed the reopening of services and cultural centers, even if the vaccination campaign is behind schedule in some towns.
The attendees learned that there are 103 persons suspected of having dengue fever in the province, a situation made worse by the increasing presence of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and many closed houses, to the detriment of focal control.
Come November 15, Cuba will launch an intensive campaign against the dengue vector which in this province will zero in on the municipalities with the largest number of cases.
