Second Havana Design Biennial will kick off this MondayHAVANA, Cuba, May 20 (ACN) With the performance of singer Annie Garcés and pianist Alejandro Falcón, the 2nd Havana Design Biennial 2019 will open its doors tonight t in the capital's Cine Charles Chaplin.

Gisela Herrero, director of the National Design Office (ONDi), told the press that with the inauguration of the event in this emblematic hall, ONDi will pay tribute to the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) on its 60th birthday, for its contribution to Cuban posters and design in general.
The program of the appointment for this first day also proposes, at noon, the opening of the exhibition Nicaragua designs, which will present furniture, costumes and other manifestations, in the Hispanic American Center of Culture of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana.
For its part, at four o'clock in the afternoon, at the headquarters of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba (calle 13 No. 509 between D and E, Plaza de la Revolución), it will open the collective exhibition Mas allá de la forma, curated by Concha Fontela.
The Havana 2019 Design Biennial will be dedicated this year to the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana, where it will meet until May 26 and then move to the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, where it will undertake actions from May 30 to June 2 and conclude in Camagüey between 13 and 16 of next month.
Within the framework of this second Biennial, the X International Design Congress, Form 2019, will take place from June4 to 7 an event that will bring together the experiences of more than 300 designers from 16 countries.
The official presentation of the National Design Award 2019 and the Design Management Award 2019 will also be an important moment in the Biennial program.
