Santiago de Cuba, Nov 25 (ACN) The book entitled “Lo primero que hay que salvar” (What’s the First to be Solved), a compilation of speeches by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro at conferences and meetings of the Union of Cuban Artists and Writers (UNEA), was launched Friday in this easter city.

The compilation was made by intellectuals Luis Morlote and Elier Ramirez, said the director of the Caseron publishing house Rodolfo Tamayo at the local Elvira Cape library.

Tamayo said that the book is necessary amidst the challenges facing the country’s culture, because it contains issues related to heritage protection, racial discrimination, inequality, and marginalization, as well as architecture, urban planning, arts and community work.

Library director Girarldo Setien said that the Cuban revolution cannot be conceived without the role of artists and intellectual, and he went on to stressed the work of the Union of Artists and Writers in the implementation and consolidation of the country’s cultural policy
The book contributes to personal reflection about what has been done and what is still to be done, said the official.

The book launch is part of activities in Santiago on the 6th anniversary of the passing of the Cuban Revolution leader.
