HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 5 (ACN) Manuel Marrero, Cuban Minister of Tourism, presented the quality of his country's tourism product during the 40th World Travel Market, held in London, UK.

During his speech at the traditional Cuban Night, Marrero explained that the high season of the tourism industry in Cuba, from November to April, began with all the assurances demanded by hotels, to provide a quality service to those who arrive in that Caribbean nation.

Cuban minister gave an update on the development and current state of the Cuban tourism industry, and referred to the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba almost six decades ago.

Marrero referred to the White House's most recent measures against his country, which have included the suspension of cruise ships and the arrival of tourists from U.S. territory.

Also, the minister held a meeting in London with Melissa Teates, president of the US Travel Agencies Association, with whom he agreed on the need to end travel restrictions to Cuba.

Cuba is represented at the London fair by executives from the Gaviota, Cubanacan, Gran Caribe and Islazul hotel chains, as well as authorities from Grupo Empresarial Viajes Cuba, and the incoming agencies Havanatur, Cubatur, Viajes Cubanacan and Ecotur.

The event hosts around 5.000 exhibitors from 182 countries and 51.000 travel industry professionals, mainly businessmen, government officials and the international press.
