HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 23 (ACN) The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro and the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel, received the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, in transit through Havana towards New York, where he will participate in the High-Level segment of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to the Cuban Presidency's twitter account.
Granma newspaper points out that the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, arrived in New York this Saturday, as head of the delegation that will participate in the UN General Assembly, according to the Cubaminrex website.
The Cuban delegation is also integrated by the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo, the General Director of the United States, Carlos Fernandez de Cossío, the Alternate Permanent Representative and Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Cuba to the United Nations, Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal, and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Mission of the Island to the UN.
Although the note disclosed by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not specify it, it is probable that the delegation will denounce, on UN premises, the unjust expulsion by the U.S. Government of two members of the Cuban diplomatic mission to the United Nations for allegedly "having carried out activities against the national security of the U.S. country".
In addition, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus confirmed on her Twitter account that the Cuban diplomatic corps at the UN should remain in Manhattan, New York, where the agency's headquarters are located.
Minister Rodríguez Parrilla, from his Twitter account, expressed Cuba's firm rejection of the slanderous accusation and unjustified measure, which is part of the aggressive escalation of recent months against the island.
"I categorically reject the unjustified expulsion of two officials from the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the UN and the hardening of the restriction of movement to diplomats and families. It is vulgar slander to accuse them of carrying out acts incompatible with their diplomatic status.
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla warned that the expulsion of the two diplomats from the Cuban Mission at the UN and the increase of the restriction of movement to the remaining ones have the objective of provoking a diplomatic escalation that leads to the closing of bilateral embassies, hardening even more the blockade and creating tensions between both countries.
The expulsion of Cuban diplomats takes place within the framework of the UN General Assembly, which brings together heads of state and foreign ministers from all over the world.
